Here are common technical requirements and best-practice guidelines for using image or video files as a background for a kiosk
✅ Image & Video Requirements
1. File Formats
Image: JPG/JPEG – small size, perfect for full-screen photos.
Video: MP4 (H.264) – most performant universal option.
2. Resolution
The dimensions are always 9:16 ratio (portrait)
Set the resolution to match the kiosk screen:

Rule of thumb:
👉 Use exactly the kiosk’s native resolution to avoid stretching or blurring.
3. File Size
Keep images below 1–3 MB for fast loading.
Compress without noticeable quality loss.
4. Length
Looping backgrounds work best when:
Short (5–20 seconds)
Seamless loop (fade or cut cleanly)
5. Audio
Mute is often required:

✅ Uploading your content
You can upload your Kiosk content in the specific Kiosk device settings page.

On the screenshot below you can see to either upload an image as kiosk banner or a video that shows in a loop.
As shown on the screenshot, you can also choose to show or hide the venue logo - installed in the theming page. And to show or hide the instructions panel on the home screen. The instructions panel shows the text 'tap here to start' so your visitors get a call to action to start ordering. Up to you to have the call to action made by orderBilly with the switch on or you can choose to upload a photo/video where make your own call to action to start ordering.
