Want your digital menu to reflect your venue’s vibe? With orderBilly’s theming features, you’re in full control of the look and feel. Head to ‘Themes’ in your backoffice and start customizing!
Note: Ensure everything is clear and easy for your customers to read. Provide enough contrast, and use logos and colors from your brand book.
You will see you have the possibility to create different themes, compared to only one before. You will see that you have one 'Active theme': this will be the theme that is being picked by default. You can, however, select a theme per menu. We will explain below.
1. Create a theme
To create a new theme, simply click on '+ Create theme'. Add a theme name and start changing multiple settings, like base colors, media & display, ...
2. Base colors: bring your brand to lie
Make your menu pop with the right color choices. Choose a primary color, text color, category text color, background color and default tag color.
Primary color – the main accent color of your menu.
Text color – this applies to header titles. Using white text can look great if your logo is also white.
Category text color – the color for your menu categories. We recommend a neutral, darker tone like dark grey for best readability.
Menu background color – the background of the menu itself. Tip: a very light version of your primary color often works best.
Default tag color
Save your changes by clicking on 'Save' at the top right.
If you want to reset your colors to the default ones, click on 'Reset to Default' next to 'Base Colors'.
3. Media & Display
Here, you can add your logo, cover image, menu background image and the background image for checkout forms.
Some tips for the best result:
Logo
The logo sits in a horizontal bar at the top of the menu.
A horizontal logo fits best and looks clean.
Round or vertical logos tend to show small and less clearly.
Best result? A white logo with a transparent background (PNG).
Cover image
A wide, welcoming photo of your venue – think full terrace or cozy interior.
Avoid close-ups of food or drinks (those are better for product photos).
Ideal aspect ratio? 16:9 or other horizontal formats.
You can also add a Hero style by selecting a style from the dropdown menu, such as Original, No Overlay, Minimal, or Profile, to alter the overall visual presentation of your menu.
Original: the layout you’re used to
No overlay: no overlay between logo and picture
Minimal: clean and simple
Profile: includes a profile icon
With these theming tools, your menu won’t just be functional – it’ll feel like you. Have fun customizing!
Don't forget to save theme changes: To apply all visual modifications, click the green Save button after making your changes in the Themes section. This action makes your updated theme settings live on your menu.
4. Change the theme you want to use for your specific menu
The 'active theme' in the Themes section is the one that will be picked by default.
You can, however, select a theme per menu, by going to Menus. Select the menu of your choice and go to Menu settings. Here, you wil see that you can change the Theme.
