Saving and sharing favourites: what your guests see

How logged-in guests save favourites on the web app, share them with others, and order them again on the web app.

With favourites, your returning guests save the products they love, exactly the way they like them, and order them again in a few taps. They can also share a favourite with friends, who save it to their own account.

This article explains what your guests see. Want to switch the favourites category on for your menu? Read How to add favourite products category?

Good to know: Favourites are switched on for your venue by the orderBilly team, and sharing favourites is switched on separately. Without sharing, your guests can save and order favourites, but they don't see a share button.

Want to use them? Send us a message via the chat.

Who can save favourites, and where

Logged in, on the web app

Can save and order favourites, and share them when sharing is switched on.

Not logged in

Can't save or see favourites. Favourites are kept in the guest's account, so guests who order without an account have none. A guest who tries to save a favourite is asked to log in first.

So a guest who wants to save a favourite does that on the web app, logged in. The next time they sign in on the web app, their favourite is waiting for them.

Save a favourite on the web app

Your guest saves a favourite from the product window on your menu.

  1. Your guest opens a product on your menu and picks their choices, like the flavour, size or extras.

  2. Next to the Add button, they tap the heart. The heart only shows once all required choices are made.

  3. In Save as favourite, the product name is already filled in. Your guest can keep it or type their own name, for example "My Monday bowl".

  4. They tap Save. Changed their mind? Cancel closes it without saving.

Good to know:

  • A product can't be saved as a favourite from the basket. Your guest always saves it from the product window on the menu.

  • The heart doesn't show whether a product is already one of your guest's favourites. Saving it again from the menu adds a second favourite, also for products without any choices. Tip for your guests: give each favourite its own name, so they can tell them apart.

Saved favourites show in the Favourites row at the top of your menu, the newest first. Next time, the favourite is ready with the same choices.

When your guest taps a favourite, they see its name and price, and three buttons at the top:

  • the bin, to delete the favourite

  • the share button, to share it (only when sharing is switched on)

  • the pencil, to change it

Below, they choose how many they want and tap Add to basket.

  • The price on a favourite tile is the full total, including the extras chosen last time.

  • Extras that are sold out aren't counted in that price.

  • Products sold by weight keep their price per kilo.

Good to know: Some products can't be saved as a favourite, so the heart doesn't show there: loyalty rewards, vouchers, products inside a bundle, and products in an upsell pop-up.

Share a favourite

Good to know: As mentioned already above, favourites are switched on for your venue by the orderBilly team, and sharing favourites is switched on separately. Without sharing, your guests can save and order favourites, but they don't see a share button.

Want to use them? Send us a message via the chat.

  1. Your guest taps a favourite in the Favourites row.

  2. They tap the share button, between the bin and the pencil.

  3. The link to their favourite is ready to share. On a computer, the link is copied, so they can paste it in a message or email.

Whoever shared the favourite and opens the link themselves sees Share your favourite, with a Share favourite button to share it again.

Receiving a shared favourite

  1. The friend opens the link. The page says that your guest shared a favourite with them.

  2. They tap Save to my favourites. Not logged in yet? Then they log in first.

  3. They see Added to your favourites!, and a Start order button to order it straight away.

Everyone keeps one copy of a shared link. A guest who opens a link they already saved sees Already added to your favourites, and no duplicate is made.

The "Shared by" label

A favourite saved from someone else's share shows Shared by and the name of the person who shared it on its tile. That way, your guest always knows which favourites came from a friend.

Change a favourite

  • Own favourites: your guest changes them with the pencil on the favourite.

  • Shared favourites: these have no pencil. Your guest adds the favourite to the basket and changes it there. The saved favourite itself stays the way it was shared.

Part of a favourite is sold out

Is part of a shared favourite sold out? Then your guest sees Choose an alternative. They pick something else, and an adjusted version goes into the basket. The saved favourite stays unchanged.

Something not right?

A guest can't save a favourite.
Check that they're logged in, on the web app, and saving from the product window on the menu, not from the basket. The heart only shows once all required choices are made. Favourites can't be saved on the kiosk, without an account, or for rewards, vouchers and bundle products.

A guest has the same product twice in their favourites.
They saved it again from the menu. The heart doesn't show that a product is already a favourite. Your guest can delete the extra one with the bin, or give both a different name.

A guest doesn't see any favourites.
Check that your guest is logged in, and that the favourites category is switched on in the settings of your menu.

A guest can't edit a favourite.
It's probably a shared favourite, with the "Shared by" label. Those are changed in the basket, not in the favourite itself.

A guest doesn't see a share button.
Sharing is switched on separately by our team. Send us a message via the chat.
