Want to offer extras on top of a product, like 'Make it a menu', 'Add a dessert' or 'Extra side'? Use an addition of the type Upsell. The extras are options in the addition, each with their own price.
How to set up an upsell addition
Go to Catalogue > Additions and find the addition with your extras. Not connected to a POS and no addition yet? Click Create new addition.
Click Edit, then "Go to detail page".
Under General information, set the type to Upsell.
Set the Minimum amount to 0, so the extras stay optional. Set the Maximum amount to the number of extras a customer can add.
Check the options under Addition options: one option per extra, with its price. The price is added to the price of the product.
Click Save. Done ✅
Good to know: Make your extras stand out. Add an image to each option and mark your best-seller as popular. Read How to add an image to an addition value and How to mark addition values as popular.
Upsell addition or upsell rule?
They sound alike, but they work differently:
Upsell addition: the extras are part of the product. Your customer chooses them while ordering that product.
Upsell rule: orderBilly suggests a separate product based on what's in the basket, like a bottle instead of 3 glasses of wine. You set these up in Selling Tools. Read how to add upsell tools to your menu.
Connected to a POS?
If orderBilly is connected to your POS, the upsell addition and its options come from your POS. You set the type to Upsell in orderBilly, following the steps above.
The prices of the extras come from your POS as well, so change them there. Every extra your customer chooses is sent to your POS together with the order.
