How to manage custom tags for a product

You can add standard tags (dietary tags), but this article handles your own tags, like 'Chef's special' or 'New', and show them on your products.

Tags are small labels on your products that help customers find what they're looking for. There are two kinds of tags:

  • Standard tags: the dietary tags orderBilly provides, like Vegan, Vegetarian or Gluten free.

  • Custom tags: tags you create yourself, with your own name, colour and icon. For example 'Chef's special', 'New' or 'Spicy'.

How to create a custom tag and add it to a product

  1. Go to Catalogue > Products. Find the product in the list and click the pencil on the right, or search for it with the search bar at the top.

  2. Click "Go to detail page" and scroll to Tags.

  3. Create a new tag and give it:

    • A name, for example 'Chef's special'. You can add a translation for every language on your menu.

    • An icon (optional)

  4. Click Save. Done ✅

Once a tag exists, you can add it to other products in the same way. Just select it in the Tags section of each product.

How to remove a tag from a product

Go to the Tags section of the product, remove the tag and click Save. The tag disappears from that product on your menu. Other products that use the same tag keep it.

Connected to a POS?

Your own tags are managed in orderBilly, not in your POS. So you can add and change them following the steps above.

Good to know: You can also add your own tags to the options of an addition, for example to mark a sauce as 'Spicy'.
