How to set up a discount price for a product

Show the original price crossed out next to the price your customer pays.

Want to show your customers they're getting a good deal? With a discount price, the menu shows the original price crossed out next to the price your customer actually pays.

For example: a product costs €8,00 and used to cost €10,00. Your menu then shows the price of €10,00 as a discount price, next to the actual price of €8,00.

How to set it up

  1. Go to Catalogue > Products. Find the product in the list and click the pencil on the right, or search for it with the search bar at the top.

  2. Click "Go to detail page" and scroll to Pricing.

  3. Under Price before discount, and enter the original price. This is the higher price that will be shown crossed out.

  4. Click Save. Done ✅

Good to know: The discount price is only for display. Your customer always pays the normal price of the product. So to sell a product for less, lower its price first. Read how to edit the price of a product.

How to remove it

The discount price stays on your menu until you remove it. When your promotion is over, go back to the product itself, go to Pricing, clear the original price under Price before discount and click Save.

Connected to a POS?

Your POS is leading for the price your customer pays, so change that price in your POS and sync it to orderBilly. The discount price is set in orderBilly itself, following the steps above.

Want a discount that runs automatically?

A discount price doesn't change anything by itself, and it doesn't stop on its own. If you want a discount that is applied at checkout, for example only at certain times, use an automatic discount instead. Read how to manage automatic discounts.
