To set the delivery zones, go to Settings → Delivery Zones → Create a delivery zone and choose the criteria you want to use to define your delivery area.
Good to know:
If you see 'no zones yet', this actually means you have no zones configurated at the moment. If the page fails to load your zones, you will get a load failure error message.
For Delivery options, you can choose three different range types:
Radius: Set the maximum delivery distance from your venue, in meters. For example, enter 10,000 for a 10 km radius. Make sure your company address is correctly set under Settings > Venue, as this is used as the starting point for the radius.
Polygon: Draw your own custom delivery area directly on the map to define exactly where you want to deliver.
Postal codes: Enter specific postal codes where you'd like to offer delivery. Only customers within these areas will be able to place an order. It is possible to select postal codes in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Luxembourg, and Germany.
For each of these three options, you can configure additional settings. For example, you can choose to charge a fee and set a minimum order amount for each delivery zone.
It is important to clarify that the minimum order amount for a delivery zone and the minimum order amount on a menu are not the same:
Minimum order amount for a menu:
This is the floor for every order on the menu, whatever the address. It's checked as soon as the guest checks out, before they enter an address. It's the most important of the two: it's simple, it applies to every guest, and guests know right away whether their basket is big enough.
Minimum order amount for a delivery zone:
This only applies to addresses inside that zone, and it's only checked after the guest enters their address. If an order doesn't reach a zone's minimum, Billy tries the next zone in your list. If the order doesn't reach the minimum of any zone that covers the address, it can't be placed. That's why zone minimums are mainly useful for one thing: making the delivery fee depend on order size, for example free delivery from €45 and €4 delivery from €30.
For delivery menus, we recommend the following setup:
Set a minimum order amount on the menu. It's checked first and applies to everyone.
Make it the same as your lowest delivery zone minimum, which is usually the zone closest to you. If the menu minimum is higher, guests in that zone are held to the menu amount, and the zone minimum does nothing.
Only add minimums to zones when you need them: when the minimum should go up with distance, or when you want delivery fees in tiers.
NEW: We recently updated the setup for the delivery zones, to make visualisation a little easier!
You now will see two tabs: Overview and Tester & visualiser.
Overview
Here, you will have an overview of the zones you have created, and which sorting they follow when calculating the delivery fee. The first one will always be the first one that is being checked, as the first zone from top to bottom that the address lies in and whose minimum is met sets the delivery fee. When the delivery address is not inside the first zone or the order amount is below the minimum order amount you configured for this zone, the calculator will jump to the next zone.
In case an address is in no enabled zone, or with an order below every minimum in reach, order delivery will be blocked.
Quick edits you can make here:
Add a new delivery zone - You can easily add a zone by clicking on the blue Create a delivery zone button.
Quick edits to existing zones: first of all click on the zone you want to change. Now, you can:
Change the sorting of your delivery zone logic - You can click on the arrows next to the zones to move them up or down the ladder
Deactivate a delivery zone - Deactivate a zone by clicking on the toggle. Don't forget to click on Save once you made your changes.
Edit the area - this will lead you to a separate page
Modify the fee or the minimum order price
Tester & visualiser
Now that you made your changes, you of course want to test if everything works fine like you expect it.
Add an address, and add an order amount.
The visualiser will show you:
which zone is being used to calculate the pricing (and also why - you will see detailled feedback for every zone that is skipped)
will show you the address (marker pin) compared to the one of your venue (small dot)
