How to modify the SMS sent to your clients when orders are ready

Write your own "your order is ready" text message, in every language of your menu.

When an order is ready, your customer gets a text message. By default, orderBilly sends a standard message, but you can write your own, for example to match your tone of voice or add a practical tip.

How to change the message

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications and scroll to Order ready SMS.

  2. Write your message in the field of each language you want to change.

  3. Click Save. Done ✅

Your message applies to your whole venue, so to every menu that sends this SMS.

Make it personal with placeholders

Use these placeholders in your message. orderBilly replaces them with the right details for every order:

  • :firstname: the first name of your customer

  • :pickup_code: the pickup code of the order

  • :location_name: the name of the location where the order can be picked up

For example: Hi :firstname! Your order :pickup_code is ready. Come pick it up at :location_name.

Other placeholders aren't supported. Using one means your message can't be saved.

Keep it short

Every message can be up to 160 characters, which is one SMS. The counter below each field shows how many you've used.

Good to know: A few special characters count as two: € [ ] { } \ ^ ~ |. So a message with a € sign runs out of space sooner than you'd expect.

What if you leave a language empty?

Then that language keeps the standard orderBilly message. Each language is separate: a customer whose phone is set to Dutch gets the Dutch message, even if you only changed the French one. So remember to fill in every language your customers use.

Want to go back to the standard message? Click Reset to the default message.

One message per order

Is an order prepared at several places, for example drinks at the bar and food in the kitchen? Then your customer gets a separate message each time one of those places marks their part of the order as ready.

Prefer to send just one message? Switch on One notification per order. Your customer then gets one message, as soon as the last place has marked the order as ready.
