How to add upselling/cross-selling to your menu?

Updated over 4 months ago

Upsell lets you suggest a better or larger version of an item already in the customer’s basket (e.g. small fries → large fries, or 3 wines → 1 bottle). It's shown when the customer views their basket.

Cross-sell promotes extra items (max 3) right before payment. Perfect for adding a dessert, drink, or other extras. It helps boost your average order value with one final nudge.

How to add upselling to your menu?

  • Select the source product

  • Set the minimum source product amount - the number of items that must be in the basket before the upsell appears (e.g. 3 glasses of wine before suggesting a bottle)

  • Set the maximum source product amount.

  • Choose the product you want to suggest.

  • Set a priority if you have multiple upsell rules. This only kicks in when more than 3 upsell rules apply to a basket - in that case, we’ll show only the top 3 based on priority to avoid overwhelming the customer.

How to add cross-selling to your menu?

This cross-sell offer appears when the customer confirms their basket, just before the payment screen.

  • Select one or more products you want to cross-sell.

  • Requires product on menu: Decide if the product needs to be listed on the menu to be eligible.

  • Force cross-sell: Enable this to show the cross-sell for every relevant product added to the basket.

  • Choose the source product that triggers the cross-sell.

  • Set the minimum source product amount - the least quantity needed in the basket before the cross-sell shows (e.g., suggest a bottle after 3 glasses of wine).

  • Set the maximum source product amount to limit when the cross-sell applies.

  • Finally, pick the product you want to suggest to the customer.
