In this article, we'll show how to modify the name and description of a category.
When orderBilly is connected to your Lightspeed L-Series POS, orderBilly will retrieve the category names through the synchronization.
It's important to know in the first place to check your synchronization settings between orderBilly and Lightspeed. You can read all about it in this article.
When modifying the name of a category in orderBilly, with a POS linked, you should take in account that there are 2 kinds of categories.
A category with a direct link to your POS - (auto link products & categories is enabled in the sync settings)
You can recognize this category since there is your POS logo next to the name.
Since this category is linked to your POS, you'll have to change the category name in your POS. For Lightspeed L-Series, go to the Lightspeed backoffice and select Products > Categories.
Click on the category which name and/or description you'd like to change, cmake your changes and save your changes.
Then go to the orderBilly backoffice, click on 'catalogue' > 'categories' and click on 'sync with POS'.
Done ✅
A category that only exists in orderBilly and has no link with your POS
You can recognize this category since there is no POS logo next to the name.
These categories are not linked with your POS and only exist in orderBilly. Editing this category has to be done in orderBilly only.
