A custom field is an extra field to fill in after having confirmed the basket. A returning client, shall always have his or her details filled in automatically. Adress, phone number, name, orderBilly makes ordering as easy as it should be!
A custom field however, can be an extra question you can ask the client to fill in. This can be mandatory or not required to fill in.
Discount codes, TVA ticket checkbox, building section and many more are examples of a custom field purpose. The answer of the custom field will also always be shown on the ticket. Both when printed via orderBilly and when printed via a POS.
Let's dive in the possibilities!
Go to your orderBilly backoffice and click on 'menus' > 'custom fields'
There you have an overview of your existing custom fields and also the possibility to create new ones. Be sure to select the correct menu when creating a custom field since a custom field is only shown on the menu where you create one.
You can modify the name and the label. The name is the text shown on the ticket - so you can make a short version to not have long text printed on your tickets. The Label is the question shown to the customer and thus shown in the orderBilly menu after confirming the order basket.
There are multiple custom field types:
Text
Plain and simple, you can ask a question to the customer and the customer can reply in text.
Ex: "We'd like to know where our customers are from, please give us the name of your hometown'
This question should not be required since a customer should be able to choose to share this information or not.
Number
You can ask a question to the customer and the customer can reply in a number.
Ex: How many people are sat at your table?
This question can be made required if the restaurant must know the amount of people to lay the correct amount of cutlery for example.
Checkbox
A checkbox is used for a yes/no question.
Ex: Would you like the TVA ticket? Checkbox checked = 1 ; checkbox unchecked = 0 as a result on the printed ticket.
Select
You can make a list of options for the customer to select one from.
Ex: Which class are you in?
Opt-in
Gather people's email adreses with the opt-in functionality. You can gain customer data and send promotional communication.
Ex: Subscribe to our monthly newsletter!
Discountcode
Use discountcodes so your customer have an extra favour while ordering.
Important to know; You should have an existing discount code in orderBilly or in your POS when a POS is linked.
