Signing in as a guest: email code, password and forgotten password, or just Apple, Google or Facebook

How your guests sign in on your web menu with an email code, a password, Apple, Google or Facebook, and what to do when they forgot their password.

When your guests order on your web menu, they sign in with their account. That way their details are filled in for them, and they can use things like favourites and loyalty. This article explains how signing in works for your guests, so you can help them when they get stuck.

Order without an account? That's only possible when you switch on Allow Guest Users for your menu. Read more about Allow Guest Users.

Ways to sign in

Your guests choose how they sign in:

  • With a code by email: no password needed.

  • With a password.

  • With Apple, Google or Facebook.

Signing in with a code and signing in with a password happen on one page. Your guest types their email address once, and can switch between code and password without typing it again.

Continue with email

Option A: continue with a code

  1. Your guest enters their email address and asks for a code.

  2. They receive an email with a code of six characters. It can contain letters as well as numbers.

  3. They enter the code, and they're signed in.

Good to know:

  • A code is valid for 10 minutes.

  • Asking for a new code makes the old one stop working. Always use the newest email.

  • After five wrong tries, the code stops working. Your guest then asks for a new one.

Option B: Use password

Your guest enters their email address and password. New guests can create an account with their email address and a password of at least 8 characters.

Forgot password

  1. Your guest taps Forgot password and enters their email address.

  2. They receive an email with a link to choose a new password.

  3. They choose a new password, and can sign in with it.

Good to know:

  • The link is valid for 60 minutes. Asking for a new link makes the previous one stop working.

  • After choosing a new password, your guest is signed out on all their other devices.

  • In a hurry? Signing in with a code works without a password.

Sign in with Apple, Google or Facebook

Your guest taps the button of their Apple, Google or Facebook account. Already have an account with the same email address? Then both ways of signing in are linked to that one account, and both keep working.

Something not right?

My guest didn't receive a code or reset email.
Ask them to check their spam folder and that the email address is spelled right. Then ask for a new code or link, and use the newest email.

The code or link doesn't work.
It has probably expired, or a newer one was sent. A code works for 10 minutes, a reset link for 60 minutes. Ask for a new one.

My guest says they never set a password.
They probably signed up with Apple, Google or Facebook. They can sign in that way again, sign in with a code, or set a password with Forgot password.
